시 계 탑 / Clock Tower

사랑의교회 SGMC에 세워진 시계탑은 기도 탑, 종탑으로 불릴 수도 있으며 기도, 열방, 묵상, 전통, 혁신, 소통, 열방, 찬양, 순례의 의미를 포함하고 있습니다. 적벽돌은 사랑의교회의 첫 교회 건물을 떠올리게 하고, 트래버틴벽은 새 교회를 인지시킴으로써 그 두 요소가 어우러져 조화를 이루게 합니다. 시계가 있는 4면은 선교의 비전과 복음이 필요한 열방이 우리 주변에 있다는 것을 상기시키며 세상을 향해 바라보고 있습니다. 계단은 천국으로 이끌어주는 상징적인 길입니다. 우리는 죽음을 이기신 예수 그리스도의 부활과 승리를 찬양하는 차임벨들을 지나 전망대로 오르게 됩니다. 전망대는 주님을 묵상하고 인생을 관조하며 민족과 열방을 향해 기도하는 조용한 장소입니다.

The Clock Tower built on SGMC, Sarang Community Church is also called a Prayer Tower or a Bell Tower and it represents prayer, nation, meditation, tradition, innovation, interaction, praise and pilgrimage. The red bricks reminds us of the first church building and the travertine wall recognizes the new church. These two components blends in perfectly with each other achieving harmony. The four sides of the clock stand facing the outer world reminding us of our missionary vision and our neighboring nations that needs the Gospel. The stairway symbolically represents the stairway which leads to heaven. Through this stairways, we will pass by the chime bells that praise the victory and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ who has overcome death. And finally it leads us to the Observation Deck where we can meditate on our Lord and contemplate life as well as pray for our people and all nation in a quiet setting.

사 랑 의 종 / Bell of Love

높이 1.7m, 지경 1m, 무게 562kg에 달하는 이 종은 영국 웨일즈 부흥의 시기인 1867년에 주조되었습니다. 영국 웨일즈복음주의신학교(WEST)에서 사랑의 마음을 담아 이 종을 찾아내어 사랑의교회로 보내주었습니다. 이 종은 영국의 Mears and Stainbank사에서 제조하였고, 이 회사는 1420년부터 그 명맥을 이어옴으로서 현재 영국에서 가장 오래된 종 주조회사로 기네스북에 등재되어 있으며 영국의 웨스트민스터 교회의 시계탑 종(빅밴), 미국 필라델피아에서 독립선언을 알린 자유의 종(the bell of Liberty)을 제작하였습니다. 웨일즈 대각성 시대에 울렸던 이 종을 통해 온 세계 열방으로 구원과 복음의 은혜를 알리는 소망의 울림이 사랑의교회에서 퍼져나갈 것입니다.

This bell which weighs nearly 562kg with height of 1.7m and width of 1m was cast in 1867, during the period of revival in Wales of UK. Our brothers in WEST(Wales Evangelical School of Theology) discovered this bell and sent it to Sarang Community Church with loving hearts. The bell was manufactured by Mears and Stainbank which is the oldest bell manufacturer in UK that has been prevailing since 1420 and is even listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The company has also manufactured the bell installed in the Clock Tower of Westminster Abbey (Big Ben), and also the Liberty Bell in the Independence Hall of Philadelphia, USA that announced the creation of Democracy. This bell that once rang during the time of revival in Wales will come to life and will ring once again from the Clock Tower of Sarang Community Church bringing hopes of salvation and grace of God to all nation throughout the world.

십 자 가 / The Cross

천국의 빛, 예수님의 몸을 상징하는 십자가는 건축 전체의 개념과 연계하여 십자가로 하나님과 성도들이 연결됨을 의미합니다. 십자가의 세로 기둥은 하나님을 향한 성도들의 거룩한 열정을 표현하였고, 가로축은 성도들을 안아주시는 예수님의 양팔을 형상화하였으며, 십자가 뒷면에는 “모든 민족을 제자로 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 주고 내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라” 하신 마태복음 28장 19~20절 말씀을 십자가에 새겨 넣어 사랑의교회 제자훈련의 목회철학을 나타내 주고 있습니다.

The cross which symbolizes the light of heaven and the body of Jesus Christ represents the connection between God and His followers in ties with the whole concept of construction. The vertical pillar depicts sacred passion of believers towards God and the horizontal pillar illustrated the two hands of Jesus embracing his followers. And on the back side of the cross, scriptures from Matthew 28:19~20 - "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." - has been carved so as to show the philosophy of discipleship training at Sarang Community Church.

시 계 / The Clock

사랑의교회 시계탑 상부 4면에 설치된 시계는 세상의 빛이 되시는 예수님을 상징하며(요 8:12), 방사형으로 뻗어 나가는 빛의 형상을 패턴화하여 중앙에 배치하고, 원형 안에는 4개의 대륙(아시아, 유럽, 아프리카, 아메리카 )을 각기 다른 도형으로 구현하여 제자훈련의 국제화와 선교의 비전을 형상화하였습니다. 시간을 나누는 12 시점에 교회를 대표하는 이미지인 십자가를 적용하여 교회 시계탑으로서의 상징성을 더하였습니다.

The clock installed inside the four sides of the top part of the Clock Tower symbolizes Jesus as the light of the world (John 8:12). The image of light that raidially spreads out was put on the center and inside the circle, four continents (Asia, Europe, Africa, America) were expressed in different shapes in order to illustrate the globalization of discipleship training and the vision of mission work. The cross as a representative image of the church was applied to the 12 hour point in order to add symbolism as church clock tower.
